Blog 8 Jennifer Perez
Add Post Today, for Composition 2, we wrote about the Met Gala and what stood out to us. Emma Chamberlain’s dress stood out to me because it reminded me of the solar system, but at the same time, it looked like the dress had been painted on. The sleeve part of the dress reminds me of a waterfall as well. Professor Rachel also gave the class examples on how to write a thesis statement. After that, we worked on our argumentative essays for the rest of the class.

Ethnography is harmful in some ways. It can encourage false stereotypes and hate even. This can be spread if a researcher is prejudice or unethical. We saw this when we discussed in class in an article with a researcher classifying African American culture as a coping mechanism and as violent. Ethnography itself isn’t harmful but we learned in class today that sometimes, the researcher can have harmful or biased opinions that they implement into their research.

Ethnographic Research Interview questions
What do think your mind was like before you learned words or rules? What could your feelings and experiences have meant to you before? What way might you have been going before you’ve been rerouted? Was it impactful leaving behind a part of yourself that you may never reconnect with? When you messed up how did you break it down?

week 7
we watched a film called “5 Factories – Worker Control in Venezuela.” The movie is about factories in Venezuela where the workers don’t just take orders from a boss. Instead, they work together in groups or unions and help make decisions. In the film, workers explained that even though they worked very long hours, they were paid very little. Some also said they didn’t get benefits like health insurance. They felt that in the older capitalist system, the people in charge made most of the money, while regular workers did most of the hard work but didn’t get treated fairly. Composition class, we had a different type of assignment. We…

Racism
I’m sure we’ve all heard of racism and probably even have seen it before in our lives. What was the most racist stuff you’ve ever seen or experienced? At least we can be glad that legal slavery has ended. We are not getting any younger but for most of us there is not too much speed in our lives. How fast does your life move? How fast has it been moving up until this point? Forgive me if you think I suck at writing, I’ve never really been much of a writer because usually when I’ve written it was always about fulfilling expectations when it comes to writing. Writing has…

Blog 7, April 27th,April29th
During our English Class on the 27th, we went over how symbols can represent an image that represents something more or beyond itself. Here is what I said. Something that I believe represents outside of itself is Crows.Crows aren’t just animals to some people, they are creatures of the otherworld, and are portents of Death. Crows have been depicted as symbols of death for a long time, dating way back to the 16th century. In my opinion I believe this suits them very well just as a Dove represents life and Purity, so in a way they kind of go hand in hand and are 2 different sides of the…
