    The day in Comp2 when we were talking about the MET Gala, I expressed my distain for these celebrities who preach about some sort of moral goal, when they themselves are participating in things that are the problem. I’m not saying I expect them to give away all their expenses and stuff, I believe it is human nature to indulge in shiny things and stuff. Capitalism just takes advantage of that.     Native land

    This weekend, I showed my mom the native land website just for our own amusement. We ended up spending almost 2 hours just exploring and her trying to connect the dots from her grandparents. “Oh so that’s why they called our neighbors ‘Tlapaneco'”. (Even though Me’phaa is how they referred themselves). It was fun just exploring and theorizing, especially seeing her go “OH I think your godmother’s family speaks that language” or “this is where our neighbor is from”.     I don’t know how to title this post

    During our EMW class, we spoke about the dangers of the school system. I spoke a lot about about my personal experience during middle school/high school and ironically my excerpt of the reading focused on what I mainly spoke about. (Even though I didn’t know the term yet). Tracking, the act of separating children due to their “academic performance”, and therefore giving them different academic paths. The division through “honor” classes creating tense competition, which lead to some having breakdowns.
