Weekly Reflection
weekly reflection 04/24/2026 during this week of ethnography and composition, we learned about the aids pandemic in the late nineteenth century; early two thousand. And Feminist Ethnography. In the film, it discussed many, stereotypes, stigmas, and propaganda that progressively lead to the worsening of the pandemic in the United States, and how lack of government funding, awareness, and protections caused the pandemic to increasingly spread and develop among citizens. Many forms of protests were seen throughout this time period, and the film conveyed the power citizens hold when they come together and fight to make a change. This directly connects to Feminist Ethnography which focuses on studying and observing Gender…

weekly reflection
this week we read a story revolving the haunting of a couple. They experienced extreme paranormal behavior which seemed to bring rifts into their relationships. Or did it…? It turned out that behind the paranormal activity lied something deeper. More sinister. Why lied beneath was a relationship on its last straw, a crack caused by uncertainty and fear of the unknown, and this story in my opinion correlated perfectly with our lesson about cultural objects in ethnography because it showed that some things are deeper than what it they are perceived in the surface. Cultural objects, a lot like this story share a more deeper meaning and significance. They represent…

Compography Story
The sparrow flew throughout the sky. He flew to great lengths, reaching the stars. And sunk to hang beneath the trees, he loved the forest almost as much as the forest loved him.. it was a mutually beneficial relationship, the bird caressed the sweetest part the tree hand to offer and in returned planted its seeds in far away lands in which new forests could take root, and of this forest a beautiful cherry blossom arose, a sign of mortality, renewal, and the transience of life.. this tree blossomed slowly, with the help of the sparrow who built nests to shelter the young tree, and the forest who gave the…

In Composition II we read a poem called surviving the end of the world. This poem really resonated with me because it spoke about LGBTQ+ topics and in my opinion revolved around sexuality and how it’d perceived by society. Using a gay club as a metaphor, it spoke about topics of closeted individuals, how homophobia is portrayed in society and how society makes sexuality to be perceived as the end of the world. Using phrases like radiation seeping through, and referring to the community in violent terms like carrying weapons of destruction. This connects to my ethnographic class because in class we were exposed to a map that held stories…

Week II Reflection
In Composition, we read The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe. The story follows the Montresor, a sickly individual who sought revenge against his old friend Fortunato for his countless betrayals. the story follows deception and manipulation as the Montresor lured his friend to his house and into the catacombs, where he proceeded to bury him alive and leave his body to rot for half a century. This story taught me about how deeply hatred and pain can corrupt one’s heart and further on, how deeply betrayal can impact someone. Seeing as it took the Montresor to murder to be able to feel some sort of relief after being…

Letter From Home an essay written by Kiese Laymon was a topic we discussed in Composition II, this essay stood out to me because it not only portrayed topics of systemic racism in our society, but also how pre-conditioning and the system can tear a person down. The essay discusses Laymon figuring out he had cancer and how it impacted his mental state and actions in future events, it further goes into depth about his experience in a racial based incident that he experienced and how it affected him. I believe this connects to a paper I read in ethnographic, that revolved around the treatment of workers and how we…

Poem (sorry for the late post lol it took me longer than I expected to learn how to post something here)
Poem : Freaky Friday Poem By:Sebastian Marmol Waking up In grace, sun shining and the birds singing I look out my window to the leaves falling and the youth playing away I look in the mirror and what stands there is not only a stranger, but an opportunity. The opportunity to apply to jobs and fear no bias To walk in the street, confident and fearless To enjoy my youth without fear of extreme consequence To be above. Yet I know this is not me. should i embrace this opportunity i shall lose myself in the process Lose my history Myself And what makes me who i am I rather…
