weekly reflection

this week we read a story revolving the haunting of a couple. They experienced extreme paranormal behavior which seemed to bring rifts into their relationships. Or did it…? It turned out that behind the paranormal activity lied something deeper. More sinister. Why lied beneath was a relationship on its last straw, a crack caused by uncertainty and fear of the unknown, and this story in my opinion correlated perfectly with our lesson about cultural objects in ethnography because it showed that some things are deeper than what it they are perceived in the surface. Cultural objects, a lot like this story share a more deeper meaning and significance. They represent the culture of a group of people and convey their story, for example, in many ways a cherry blossom can represent a different meaning in different country’s like sports hold different significance in others. Both these things share a beauty of deeper meaning which make them both such a wonderful thing to learn about.
