Autobiography Reflection – Week 11
Writing my autobiography was interesting, because I was forced to immerse myself in the culture of my past in a combined effort of my personal object from Ethnography: my instrument. Let me explain. I choose to personify my alto saxophone, which had a black body, gold highlights and silver keys. My late band teacher had given me that saxophone for a short time coming up to my first solo-lead performance of Isfahan by Duke Ellington at the Apollo Theatre. At the time, I suffered from stage fright where I often froze (even on stage mid performance) and it took a lot of hard work and practice for my band teacher…

Autumn.S Autobiography Reflection
making this autobiography was pretty healing and a new prespective on those who view anxiety a certain way and how it builds from past experiences and how it continues to affect you in current situations. i used anxiety as more of haunting presence that you couldnt recognize but you can feel, in which we dont understand anxiety until we feel it. which brought the idea of psychological horror.

my autobiography and how i made it
the way I decided to do my autobiography would be via slightly funny comic strips. but to do this i first did an outline of the comic and what panel would be about. after writing what each panel would be about i then drew each panel and added even more panels to help with context more. i decided to draw stickfigures and give my stickfigure glasses to differentiate whos who. the reason for doing stickfigures is because im not that talented to draw anatomy. overall i really liked how the comic came out and hope you enjoy it.

Final Blog
This Ethnography class, I learned from this reading, how Hurricane Maria deeply transformed both the people of Puerto Rico and the author herself, revealing the emotional weight of fear, loss, and resilience in the aftermath of disaster. The experience pushed the author to rethink her entire approach to research, showing that true understanding requires listening to communities, respecting their histories, and acknowledging the impact of colonization on traditional ethnographic methods. She discovered that meaningful research must be collaborative, rooted in humility, and centered on the voices of the people living the reality not filtered through a distant academic lens. Ultimately, the text teaches that radical ethnography is about decolonizing knowledge,…

Autobiography
My name is Sumaiya Akter. and one of the most meaningful objects from my childhood are my bookshelf. There was a bookshelf in my room for as long as I can remember. It stood quietly against the wall, simple and ordinary, filled with schoolbooks, notebooks, storybooks, and papers from different years of my life. To anyone else, it may have looked like just a piece of furniture, but to me, it was much more than that. My bookshelf was a part of my childhood, my student life, and my personal growth. As a child, I spent so much time near that bookshelf. Every school year, it changed with me. New textbooks, fresh notebooks, homework assignments, and old…
