In this week’s English Composition classes, we focused on our research assignment. We created an outline for our essays and how to format them. The outline was a little hard because its time consuming finding evidence from sources that would best fit my thesis statement. Creating my thesis statement was pretty easy because I had searched up examples of how to create a good thesis statement. It is expected that there are 4-5 body paragraphs, one of which includes a rebuttal. Professor Rachel further helped me improve my thesis to be as clear as possible. I found many sources that could help support my essay, as well as non-scholarly sources. Both types of sources will further elaborate on my thesis statement.

In Ethnographic Methods at Work, we read interviews of factories without bosses and the personal and physical battles workers had while in control of the company. Many of the workers lived in the factory for a time until they found better ways to control the factory effectively. They had to learn how to manage the factory property on their own. This caused errors and a lot of work for everyone because they didn’t know how to properly manage a factory. They spent time studying and working to improve the work system. On Wednesday, we learned how to create open-ended questions when interviewing. Based on this, we created questions that would help build our research essay in our class English Composition II. We also got to see the topics people were exploring in their research essays.
