Nancy Varley was 4 years old with glasses and finding out she was moving to a different Preschool. Her first preschool was okay. She had friends and her teacher was nice until Miss Cater had to leave and a substitute teacher came for the rest of the time she was in the school. A couple days before she had to leave Miss Miller was trying to talk to her but Miss Miller could not understand her. Miss Miller called Emily Varley and asked her “ Does Nancy speak a different language? because I can’t understand her.” When Miss Varley told her that she did not speak a different language that she had an IEP. Miss Miller did not believe her because she did not know anything about what the mom was talking about. After Miss Miller told Miss Varley that she told Miss Varley to not bother her time with Nancy because she would not be there much longer. Nancy was in the room for the whole conversation and was glad that her mother was there for her. But then came the time for her to go to the second preschool. Nancy was nervous because she did not know anyone there. But as the days went by Nancy got comfortable with the people around her. She was able to make friends and hangout with them in the school.
Then she had to transfer into elementary school. It was PS 75 and it was close to where she lived. Nancy still had her glasses in elementary school Nancy had two friends in kindergarten Lola and Hailey and the three of them would hang out in class. First grade was only her and Lola because Hailey was no longer going to the same school. Nancy and Lola were together from kindergarten to third grade. In second grade when Noah first started bothering Nancy she tried to ignore it. Lola was always there for Nancy especially when it came to second and third grade. Nancy told Noah to stop but he did not listen. Eventually It started bothering her and she told her mother about Noah bothering her on the way home her mother told her that she will talk to the principal about other schools. Miss Varley went to Peter Oliver to talk about other schools that accepted IEP’s that her daughter could go to. But he never helped her so her mom found a school that Nancy will go to for fourth grade. So on the last day of third grade she said her goodbyes to Lola because she was moving to a different school. When the next school year started Nancy was going to Manhattan School For Children for fourth and fifth grade again she felt nervous and uncomfortable about being in a new environment. She made a couple of friends Nicole, Sally, Molly, Sandra. Nicole was the first person Nancy met because she was in her class Sally, Molly and Sandra were nice to let her sit with them at lunch and since then they became friends. Fourth grade went extremely well she made more friends and her teachers were nice. Fifth grade came and she was comfortable in the school and she also had some of her friends from fourth grade in her class. Fifth grade went by in a flash so much happened and it was a lot of fun.
Nancy’s middle school was in the same school but everything went well. She had her friends and made new ones and talked to the teachers when she needed help with an assignment. Sixth grade was nice, everyone was being nice to her and she had help from teachers with assignments. Seventh grade went smoothly, the principal allowed her to not have a combination loker and her friends caught her up on what she missed when she came into class. Eighth grade was in during covid she was remote for a while and it was a little tricky but she managed and then she was allowed to do asynchronous for the rest of the school year and all her teachers and friends as well as her parents were there for her graduation.
Then she had to transfer to high school. She ended up going to Frank Mccourt high school. She was a little nervous because she was new to this environment but excited to start. She found out that five people from her middle school ended up going to her high school and she found that out on her first day. For the rest of the freshmen year she was comfortable and had made some more friends. Sophomore year was interesting but she had her friends in the same classes as her and had her teachers support when she needed help. Junior year was nice. She had more friends somewhere older than her but not by a lot still helped her when she needed it along with the teachers and her counselor that helped her keep track of her grades. Senior year was a lot but it was fun she had made friends with some juniors that were in her classes and had help with the college process from her counselors. As well as she was able to keep track of all of her classwork and pass her classes. She gave advice to her junior friends when they needed it. She had a lot of fun at her prom with her friends and they took some pictures. All of her family was at her graduation and her teachers were also there, even the ones that left the school.
And now she is taking everything she knows about herself and is happily starting her few years at Stella and Charles Guttman Community College. She made some friends in each of her semesters and is so far doing very well.
This is a realistic fiction so the characters are meant to represent me and others that I felt like contributing in this story.
