Blog 2 Reflection Jennifer Perez

This week for English Composition 2, we read a Gothic fiction and horror story called The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe. The story is about a guy named Montresor, who killed Fortunato. They seem to be far friends; Montresor gave no apparent reason as to why he killed Fortunato. It also seems that this might not have been his first time killing, because in the short story, Montresor is removing the bones from the pile of stones he has already taken down before. Montresor killed Fortunato in a way that Fortunato felt the pain and died slowly in a brutal way. Montresor doesn’t realize that what he has done to Fortuato is unethical. This short story also caught my interest because I enjoy the thrill of anticipating what happens next. In class, we also had a debate about whether Montresor was right in killing Fortunato or not.
