Week 2 Reflection

This week in Composition II was very interesting to say the least. For starters, in class we read “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe. The story describes two characters named Montresor and Fortunato in Italy, Montresor is willing to seek revenge against Fortunato for what seemed to be a perceived insult in which we do not know what it was. Montresor then finds Fortunato and lures him to his catacombs under his empty and spacious palace where he walled Fortunato to death, all while Fortunato is drunk and perceives Montresor to be his friend. I enjoyed the story because it was a short read. When a story is too long for my taste, I tend to get uninterested and lose track of time, but because this what a short read, it kept me on my toes the whole time and I could fully submerge myself to the set, setting, and story. The debate was a nice plus because it got the whole class to speak up and share perspectives, myself included. For Ethnography, multiple groups read different articles. My group read “Race in Sociology,” while I did not agree with some of the points the author mentioned in the article, it was an interesting read nevertheless and I took out a lot from it. My peers also had some good takes.
